Board has been established as a result of which the receipts

from Hospital Bills (865,700) escapes Military Contribution. I

request that authority may be obtained for the exemption from

Contribution of the sums shown on pages 13 and 14 of the

Estimates as:-

Hongkong Currency $4,550,000.

If my request is approved the Military

Contribution payable by this Colony will be reduced in respect

of the current year by $413,721. It will still stand at

8929,056 which is higher by $134,340 than the amount paid for

1901
